A True Dream

Stacy Haynes-Moore has always been interested in news and journalism the memories date back to her childhood, she would even play “interviewer”. Since then she has endured a long journey to pursue that as a career. Haynes-Moore calls herself a “news nerd” because she’s always so caught up in the news as well as thoroughly enjoymany podcasts. Her love for news was sparked by her father’s career in news, he was a media consultant. She was constantly surrounded by people who loved news as much as she did which turned this into her passion.
She started pursuing her love for news and journalism in high school, up until then she paid extra attention to the language arts classes that were both offered and required. To pursue her interest in the topic Haynes-Moore became a student editor on her high school paper and went to a journalism camp.
Starting off in college Haynes-Moore decided to follow the news path and had an original major in tv broadcasting. While at the University of Missouri she realized she was no longer in love with her major in tv broadcasting and switched it over to print journalism. Stacey Haynes-Moore then went through a series of jobs, while in Missouri she got a job reporting for The Kirksville Express, a daily paper. While reporting for that job she worked nonstop. After resigning from that position, she moved to Iowa and began working as an editor for the Mt. Vernon Sun, a weekly paper. Haynes-Moore later joined a small online magazine but stopped working there after they were bought out by a larger company.
On top of news and journalism Stacy Haynes-Moore has a profound love for helping people. She decided to go back to school to mix both of those things together. She got a degree in language arts education, since getting the degree she has been working as a language arts teacher for 17 years. She has become the leader of the Kennedy Torch, a student magazine that covers news, people, and events.
When asked if she would ever consider going back to working in broadcasting or print journalism, she responded with “I have sort of a really great career right now. It sort of blends what I like to do, which is working with students [and] working still in media.” Haynes-Moore has been through many careers, juggling her love for news and journalism.
